Wrong Account Type in Account

Hey everybody!

Thanking you in advance for the help.

Turns out that in the sandbox environment of a project, there was a wrong account type (fixed assets instead of other current assets) and transactions have been posted already in sandbox, making it impossible to change the account type. The account has been fixed in production as no transactions were posted and I know a refresh will do the trick but the refresh won’t happen for a while and we need to have the account fixed in Sandbox meanwhile.

What do you suggest would be the best way to proceed in order to fix this?

Mass update on a script to delete all of the transactions that reference that account and you’ll be able to change the  account type.

This may not be an option depending on the nature of the transactions. Another option would be to change the account name and number, and then manually update the accounts the the transactions are posted to in sandbox to another one that is set up correctly. I wouldn’t advise this unless absolutely necessary.
