Using Run Restricted Search Option

Hi, has anyone used the “Run Restricted” option on a saved search before? My understanding is this will allow users who don’t normally have access to the underlying record type view the results of the search.

I have some sensitive data where I only want the employees to see the search results. I don’t want them to be able to click on the record. When I try enabling this option though on the search settings, it won’t allow the employee to run the search, seemingly due to a permissions issue.

Anyone have insight on this?

Your interpretation is correct – note that they won’t be able to modify the search unless they are an administrator.

As far your issue with folks not being able to run it, What is the search running on?

Record type? It’s a custom record. I’m using the “Permission List” option on the custom record setup. The role I want to view the search is not on the permission list, but I’d think that’s not necessary. That’s kind of the point of the run restricted, right, that they don’t need permission to the record.
