Sales Rep Field > Prevent Users from Editing at Saved Search Line Level Edit?

We have saved searches with the field ‘Sales Rep’ from the Customer Record.

I was able to write a script and in the deployment define which users the field would be disabled. Working as intended!

However, users are still able to edit the value for ‘Sales Rep’ under saved searches by Line Editing feature…. How can I prevent this?

1. They still  need to edit other fields. Can’t remove permission
2. Found this and not working (http://www.netsuiterp.com/2019/04/preventing-locked-records-to-be-edited.html)

3. Changed the field to ‘Formula = {salesrep}’ and it works by no longer editable but other users need to be able to edit directly from the saved search.

Has anyone been able to effectively limit the line editing feature for specific fields and roles/users?
