Report filter

Hi – newbie here

I have a couple of  reports where i would  like to add a filter of All of said field – ie – i want users to be able to filter a report and see one specific item/vendor etc. I create the filter but I cannot figure out how to show Equal to -All-

my choice of “Equal to “ just gives me all items in a list – I’m sure it is simple but I’m stumped!

** Not sure i am very clear 🙂

i want all items to show in the filter – i see on other reports that the filter says Equals – All- but i cant type All in the box

This is what i see

Report filter

any help much appreciated!!!

Sometimes it does this to me too. You should be able to save the new filter line with “Filter: equal to” and nothing selected by clicking the Done button, but sometimes it won’t let you.

What I’d do is set “Filter: not empty” so that you can save the filter line. Then go back into it and change back to “Filter: equal to” and then click Done.

This should add the filter to the report for your users and it should have the default as -All-.

I don’t remember ever having this issue with saved searches. But I played around with the report filter a bit more and it seems to just want the “Show In Filter Region” checkbox selected before it will allow the “Equal To” filter section to be empty. So:

  1. Select the Vendor…Legal Name filter
  2. Either select a random selection for Equal To (or change that temporarily to Not Empty)
  3. Set Show In Filter Region: Yes
  4. Save the filter line
  5. Edit the filter line to remove the random Equal To selection (or to change the filter back from Not Empty to Equal To)
