File Module with Client Script

Hi, I have a custom module I’m plugging into my client script. The custom module loads the file module. I keep getting this error saying the file module can’t be loaded. I tried loading the file module directly into the client script to rule out a problem with the custom module, but I got the same error. Is the file module incompatible with client scripts? That just seems odd.
