Error while editing shipping method.

If we change the shipping method on an order BEFORE we try to authorize a credit card payment, it grinds away forever, then pops up the below warning and reverts the invoice back to how it originally was (without any changes we made; the shipping method, etc).
The reason we’d change orders is to add a signature (for ss info), or make it Priority Mail for a location like Puerto Rico or Guam, etc.
Warning: Transaction failed to save in NetSuite, BUT was processed through the gateway with reference number . The details of the used payment processing profile are: Id = 1, Name = Cybersource, Type = CYBERSOURCE
