RE: Advanced BOM vs Phantom BOM
One of the most perplexing things I have come across in Netsuite is the use and relationship of Phantom BOM to Advanced BOM. In our attempts to streamline our processes and get ready for our WMS rollout we have consistently hit the wall in this area. My question is simple: Can a Phantom BOM and an Advanced BOM exist simultaneously or do they cancel one another out? Furthermore, is it easier to use one over the other without injecting a ton of scripting on the back end?
Advanced BOM allows you to create BOM and BOM Revisions which can be associated with multiple items and are able to be preferred in a specific location.
Phantom BOM is a configuration which is used to group a configuration of components — and consume inventory from the components directly rather than requiring an assembly be built first. Typically this is needed for Subassemblies in which a manufacturer does not want to keep stock of the subassembly.
