RE: In NetSuite Oneworld, how do I add a new Parent Company
We just upgraded our Sandbox to Oneworld to test out its functionality. Upon doing so, we now see a new “Subsidiary” view with one record: “Parent Company”. We need to do the following:
- Create a new Parent Company record. Let’s call this “Parent Holding Company”
- Change the existing Parent Company record to be named “Subsidiary 1”
- Create a new Subsidiary record to be named “Subsidiary 2”
So, when done, it will look like this:
- Parent Holding Company
- Subsidiary 1
- Subsidiary 2
I can do #2 and #3 above just fine, but I don’t see a way to create a new Parent Company in NetSuite. Can this be done via the UI, or do I have to work with NetSuite Support to get this done?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Once a subsidiary record is created you cannot add or change parent/hierarchy subs if there was none defined when the record was created. Seems like you guys were not on Oneworld so your base sub did not have a parent sub when transitioned to Oneworld’s multi subsidiary schema. NS support can help you with for sure, I have seen this issue quite a few times and had take NS support\s help

Update: In order to create a new Parent Company, you must have the “Subsidiary Hierarchy Modification Feature” enabled. NetSuite support can enable this feature for you. After this was enabled, i could create the new parent company and make the subsidiaries children of it.
Also, another sticking point for us was that we only requested 2 Subsidiaries when we first provisioned Oneworld. NetSuite counts the parent company as a subsidiary as well. So, in our case, we needed 3 subsidiaries to be provisioned.
