RE: Edit Default Fields ?

Hey All,

I’m having an issue where, we need to be able to ship internationally, but are unable to get descriptions for inventory items, only Assembly items.

Looking in our system, it appears someone tried to solve this by creating a new description field, that is available for Inventory Items, but that doesn’t pull for sales orders, and item fulfilments.

Is there a way to either, make the standard field, available or to reconfigure sales orders/item fulfilments to use the other field?

I know short term, I could probably do an import for the sales order to fill out the field, but obviously that’s not ideal.

When you say that you’re “unable to get descriptions for inventory items”, do you mean that the native “[Sales] Description” field is missing from inventory item records?
If this is the case, it could be that someone has either moved or hidden it on the Inventory Item custom form.

Try editing the custom form and look for the description field, then moving it to the correct place and/or un-hiding it.

I was able to do that with the custom field, but not native field.

RE: Edit Default Fields ?

It’s just not available anywhere, even if I go to import descriptions it doesn’t show up on the Inventory Item import.

RE: Edit Default Fields ?

I could use the custom field, but I would need to get the Sales Order/Item Fulfilment to pull that field instead of the original Description field.

I don’t know if it’s possible to edit the native field to make it show up on the correct forms.

Having seen that the internal id of your field is {description} and not {salesdescription}, you may have a different set of features that I’m unfamiliar with..

That being said, my last recommendation is to switch an item to the Standard Inventory Form, and check that the native description field is there.
If it is there, then it will be somewhere on your custom form too (potentially moved to a subtab that was subsequently disabled??)

If, after switching to the standard form, you do not find the {description} field, I would encourage you to log a ticket with NetSuite to have it resolved. As you should not have be conducting a workaround for this, and such customisation may be untenable.

I saw an order in this morning that did have it populated for inventory items, went and found a sales description field that populates this field.

I’m putting in some test orders to verify that it works, but I think it might be good now.
