RE: Preferred Bin Logic for Putaway Recommendations
Hello,
I’m encountering an issue with NetSuite WMS where the system consistently recommends an item’s preferred bin for putaway, even when it conflicts with my defined putaway strategies. According to SuiteAnswers, this behavior is expected when using mobile devices for putaway. However, it’s causing significant problems in our warehouse.
Here are a few examples:
- Bulk Storage: We receive items by the pallet and want to store pallets in a designated bulk zone, while reserving the preferred bin for cases only. Our putaway strategy reflects this, but NetSuite still prioritizes the preferred bin.
- Item Quarantine: Damaged goods should be directed to a quarantine bin according to our strategy. However, NetSuite insists on recommending the preferred bin, potentially mixing damaged goods with sellable inventory.
- Stock Rotation: We utilise a stock rotation system where the oldest stock is stored at the bottom of a rack and the newest at the top. NetSuite disrupts this by recommending the preferred bin for new receipts, regardless of our strategy to place them on the top shelf.
This raises a crucial question: Why does NetSuite prioritize the preferred bin even when it contradicts specifically configured putaway strategies? This behavior seems counterintuitive and inefficient.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Does anyone know how to configure NetSuite WMS to prioritize putaway strategies over the preferred bin setting?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Could you instead remove preferred bins and use putaway strategies to put into bulk storage and pick strategies to pick from the cases storage areas
Then use replenishments to move inventory from bulk to case storage
