Missing Bin Numbers on items with available inventory
An issue was noticed today where some items will have an available quantity but the associated bin is missing from the Bin Numbers tab on the item.
By looking at previous records for the item, I can find a Bin Transfer/Bin Putaway that uses a bin not in the list. When I add the bin to the list and save the record, the missing quantity shows up:
Has anyone dealt with this before?
I compiled a list of items where the summed bin quantity isn’t equal to the location quantity.
From there I was able to search these items for and group on the Transaction Bin Number fields, effectively giving me some potential missing bins.
After importing all of these potential bins, about 10% of my items were still off. I’m guessing there was a transaction into a bin that was deleted. How could I possibly find it at this point?
Turns out there were no missing bins after all. The solution was to disable “Use Bins” on any affected items, do an Inventory Adjustment to change the Locations quantity to whatever the bin quantity was (only the location quantity changes, not the bin quantity), then reenable “Use Bins” on the items and do another Inventory Adjustment with the opposite adjustment amounts as before.
When you get a mismatch of this nature, you generally need to go through a process of turning off bins, adjusting stock, turning bins back on, then correcting stock again. If you search Suiteanswers for “location bin mismatch” there are quite a few articles around the issue.
