How to get same period for the previous fiscal year onto financial report?

Hello

I’m trying to automate showing the same period for the previous fiscal year on a P&L financial report.  Here is what I am wanting:

I select the report period as being the current fiscal year to date (e.g. 1 April 2020 to 31 July 2020).  I can get the actual and budget figures to work ok on my report showing values for the period selected.  I now want to add the same period for the previous fiscal year to date (i.e. 1 April 2019 to 31 July 2019) but I cannot get it to work.

What I have done:

On my existing report I added a new column (Financial > Amount) then set the “Alternate Date Range Type” to “Relative to Report Date” and then I have tried lots of different options under “Alternate Date Range”, including Last Fiscal Year To Date, Last Year to Date, Previous Rolling Year, Last Rolling Year, Same day last fiscal year and so forth and nothing gives me the same reporting period from the previous fiscal year.  There is no drop-down option for “Same Period Last Fiscal Year” which I think sums up what I want.  “Range Segment” is set to “None”.

Under Set Preferences > Analytics > Report by Period > I have used the option “Never”. I have also tried the alternate date range “Custom” option where you manually pick the dates you want (this works) but I would like the previous fiscal year period to be automatic.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or what I need to do to get this to work?

Thanks

I partially figured it out…..Under “Home” > “Set Preferences” you need to set “Analytics” > ‘Report By Period” to “Financials Only”.

Then in your financial report, add the column using Financial > Amount, then under the options for that column set “Alternate Period Range Type” to “Relative to today’s date” and then under “Alternate Range Period” set it to “Last Fiscal Year to Period”.

BUT it only gives you from the start of the fiscal year up to last last month end – any other reporting period will show the incorrect result for the column.

It would still be good to have a permanent solution that does not involve manually setting the periods.
