How can I have multiple ship dates on the same sales order?

We have customers who place orders with us and need to have different ship dates on different line items. What are my options?

Could you add a custom column field on the Sales order called ship date? And fill that date in as {today} when the item is fulfilled? Then there would be ship dates on each line item on the Sales Order.

I have only been live in Netsuite a week so I am not knowledgeable enough. The problem with that is, I think anyway, is that it wouldn’t let warehouse know when to ship. This is what I got back from Netsuite- If you need to set a schedule for the fulfillment of each item line, that would be a system limitation logged under Enhancement #97322.

I’m sorry, I read that wrong. I thought you wanted to log the dates that different items actually shipped. I think this would be possible by adding a custom column field on the sales order to add a new line field. You could then enter dates per line item of when you want to ship, but you would have to develop a custom script or workflow to generate fulfillment records on the date you want to ship.

It is that custom script or workflow I was hoping someone knew about, or it was a bundle or something.

So there is a native “Ship Date” Column in the Sales Order transaction. The default in NS is to have this column hidden and to use the “Main Line”/”Body” field for “Ship Date”. In our environment, we mostly ship everything at once but do sometimes have multiple ship dates. We exposed the column field on our Sales Order form and populate information into both the mainline date and the column dates. As a practice, we use the next/earliest ship date for the mainline field. This way we can still use the mainline searches and have a ship date showing.  You definitely don’t want to build a custom field, because if you use the native one then when you build a search the “Ship Date” field will populate in the same column for the main line and item sublist.

To add onto SSTEENSTRUP’s comment. You can set custom filters  and columns on the Warehouse “Fulfill Orders” Page. This would allow them to see the line dates and even filter by them if necessary. When on the Fulfill Orders page just click customize and from there you can select the sublist columns and filters you want.
