Tax Audit Files SuiteApp – Required for UK Business?
We are a UK based business who only sell to UK customers. We do buy some products from overseas suppliers (and pay some of those in Euros, USDollars etc).
We have Help: International Tax Reports installed, and use this to submit our VAT returns etc.
On reviewing our transactions and scripts, it has come to my attention that we also have NetSuite Applications Suite – Tax Audit Files installed, which has deployed a large number of scripts against many of our transactions.
Reading through the article, I don’t think Tax Audit Files is relevant to our business – we certainly haven’t created any of these Tax Audit Files in the last 7 years of trading on NetSuite.
Am I safe to start disabling these scripts? I’m not sure I want to risk uninstalling the bundle completely, but I’m running a review of all screens / transactions / workflows and scripts and want to disable or rationalise as much as possible to try and help with system performance.
Any feedback / thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I’d be cautious about disabling the deployments directly in production, even if the SuiteApp looks irrelevant to a UK-only VAT setup. Tax Audit Files is usually for statutory audit-file outputs in certain countries, so if you have not generated any files for seven years it is definately worth testing whether the scripts are doing anything useful for your account. I would first check the bundle records, script execution logs, and any custom forms where those deployments are attached, then turn them off in a sandbox and run through your VAT return and common transaction flows. While reviewing, I’d ignore unrelated browser or notes clutter like https://icefishonline.com/ or https://helicopter-x.com/ and focus only on scripts actually deployed from the NetSuite bundle. If nothing breaks and no logs show meaningful activity, disabling the deployments gradually sounds safer than uninstalling the bundle outright.
