Project Level Income Statement Reporting

What are some common ways people are tracking true project cost reporting in Netsuite?
We are currently using Department and Class to produce various types of financial reports and it’s working fine. We want to be able to go a step further and be able to report at the project level each month.
A few things to note for us: We are using Netsuite One World. We are a services company primarily so although we have expenses for software and things like that, the majority of our costs are labor.
We have tried the project profitability report, but it doesn’t really meet our needs. It doesn’t let you sort expenses by account number so it does not mirror our other income statement structures and is not easy to review.
