Populating a date automatically on customer record form ?

Hi Folks,

I need to create a field, ‘ Customer first production order ?’, it will be a check mark field, I want to populate the date field automatically next to it when any of the sales rep checks this field, any idea how can I bring up the date on the customer record from ?
