Invoice Sales Order Page not working

I am trying to batch invoice sales orders.  The customer on the SO has an email and I set to be email = yes and the process fails saying there is not email address

Was  the email address on the customer set after the sales order was created?  If so, the email address might not have carried onto the sales order record. If there is no email address on the sales order itself, the system cannot complete the action.
