How to get started as a NetSuite developer/administrator?
Hello there, I am interested in starting a career as a NetSuite professional. My goal is to learn how to set up NetSuite for companies and customize it for developers or NetSuite partners.
I am seeking advice on how to get started in this field. I am currently taking a course to learn the basics of NetSuite, but I believe that hands-on experience through projects such as implementations or problem-solving would be the best way to gain practical knowledge.
To gain experience, I am willing to offer my services for free and help others with their projects. Additionally, I am open to suggestions on courses or certifications that could help me learn more about NetSuite setup and development.
I have been searching for resources on how to set up NetSuite or develop it further, but have not found anything specific. Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated.
That’s great to hear that you’re interested in starting a career as a NetSuite professional! Here are some tips to help you get started:
- Get Certified: One of the best ways to demonstrate your expertise in NetSuite is to get certified. NetSuite offers a range of certifications for different roles, including Administrator, SuiteFoundation, Developer, and more. Obtaining these certifications will help you gain credibility and recognition as a NetSuite professional.
- Join the NetSuite Community: There are several online communities where NetSuite professionals share their knowledge, ask and answer questions, and discuss best practices. Joining these communities will help you stay up to date with the latest trends and learn from other experienced NetSuite professionals.
- Gain Hands-On Experience: As you mentioned, gaining hands-on experience is crucial to mastering NetSuite. Consider volunteering or interning with a company that uses NetSuite, or offering your services for free to gain experience with NetSuite implementations or customizations.
- Take Advantage of Online Resources: There are many online resources available to help you learn NetSuite, including documentation, video tutorials, and online courses. Udemy, SuiteTraining, and LinkedIn Learning are some popular online resources to learn NetSuite.
- Network with NetSuite Professionals: Networking with other NetSuite professionals can help you learn more about the industry and job opportunities. Attend industry events, join NetSuite user groups, or connect with other NetSuite professionals on LinkedIn.
Remember that becoming a NetSuite professional takes time and effort, but with dedication and persistence, you can achieve your goal. Good luck!

Best Regards,
Do you have a resume or linkedin or something that shows your background? How is Argentina? I visited there several years ago…
I do have a resume I can send you, but my background is mostly in customer service and sales. I always been very good with computers, and I think I could get some tasks assigned and learn by researching the answers and applying them. You can be honest with me and let me know if something like than can work? I know NetSuite is a complicated system, but I am ready for the challenge. I also have access to an account in Orace learn where I think I can find lot of information which can be useful. I am about to finish a course where I am learning about the prosses like Purchase Order, Item Recipe to Billing and Sales Order, Item Fulfilment, invoice and Customer Payment. Some basic things about user interface, vendors profiles, customer profiles and Items. Mostly basic staff but I am learning new things every day.
Can I have an email to send you my resume? I live in NC, I work in a restaurant, so I have all my mornings until 2pm available and 3 days a week fully available.
Argentina is a bit unstable like always, the economy is bad and the corruption is worse. My family have a farm in Mendoza, we have horses and cattle, and we also organize horseback riding expeditions to the Andes Mountain range. I go there every year for few months and my dream is to be able to work from the farm one day.
Thank you so much for your help!
I’m sorry to hear of the prospects of your home land, I found some effectivo recently and was not even worth getting it exchanged. Only went to BsAs but hear Mendoza is great, had plenty of wine from there. I was a boy scout here in the US so I have done quite a bit of wilderness activities.
If you think about it, a business that runs on NetSuite is just like any other business, only their software systems are in the Oracle cloud. So there are sales jobs and customer services and whatever function where they are working with NetSuite. Do you want to be selling NetSuite? That will probably take a while to become effective as you are selling potentially multi million dollar projects to savvy execs. Customer service could be an angle that might work well; if you follow the points above you might be able to find a way in.
Prior to working with NetSuite I was a web developer, so alot of those skills have come in handy for me in debugging scripts, customizing the platform, designing forms, etc. HTML, CSS, Javascript are all handy technologies.
Let’s see the resume.
The Argentinian peso lose value every, day consider that we have 80% of inflation per year and that number keep going up. Yes, Mendoza have a lot of good wineries you provably tried a good Malbec from there before?
I do not see an option to attach a file here, but I uploaded 2 resumes to google drive and you can open them from this link:

There are 2 resumes, one is a more recent one focus on my customer service skills. And another one is more focus on my horse experience, but it has some pictures and I think it is a bit interesting to see.
I would do any kind of job related to NetSuite just to be able to get started. I do not have a background on coding or Sofware development, but I believe that there are things in NetSuite that do not involve coding? I am willing to keep learning through the prosses and learn about scripting and different implementations. I just need an angle to be able to get started.
My email is tobiaslimaturismo@gmail.com and my phone number is 417 337 0260 in case you would like to give me a call.
Thank you again!
