Can anyone tell me the use of the “parent company” field in the customer records in NetSuite? I want to use the “Parent Company” field for my own purpose, I want to know that is it used for any built-in functionality in NetSuite.

I’m making the assumption that that is the field with internal id {parent} and this isn’t a totally mucked with form, as it looks pretty standard. That field is indicating the parent-child relationship between customers. In this example, CUS1944 is the parent customer and the record you are on, CUS13798, is a child customer of CUS1944.  “Parent-Child Record Relationships” SuiteAnswer Id: 10149 is a good place to start reading about this. But basically for customers it’s mostly related to sharing certain properties and relationships as well as (potentially) billing/reporting in unique ways across parents/children.
