Bank Feeds integration “successfully” importing 0 transactions, skipping bank activity in one account

We integrate with Comerica’s web banking portal and successfully pull in transactions for several different accounts, but our account with the most activity has recently stopped importing and skips entire days. Occasionally it does import, and when it does the Bank Feed will not pull in all of the missed activity on the account. We do not receive an error message, rather the message we receive when it fails is “NetSuite has successfully imported 0 transactions from your bank statement file using login…” and the Banking Import History page shows a successful import for the day. Activity for this account is around 300 transactions per day.

Is there anything we can do to debug or fix the Bank Feeds SuiteApp to import the activity from this one account?

Hi Kyle,

Did you get anywhere with this?

Thanks,

Chris

Nope.  I received this response from Support, and attempted the manual trigger but the issue was still not resolved:
We understand that the user reported missing transaction issue with his Comerica Web Banking account at the application. We have verified the issue and found that the navigation to fetch the transactions was not handled properly in our code, which made the transactions go missing. We have made the required code changes to resolve the issue. Could you please ask the user to trigger a manual refresh at the application and confirm the status?
We are now attempting to do the sFTP integration but having difficulty due to the IP address being dynamic and the bank doing whitelisting by IP address.

Hi Kyle,

Yes, I’m struggling myself with that one at the minute.

For your info (and I’m pretty sure this is a new addition to the page), check out the third bullet point:

I think the idea with this is that some firewalls can use this DNS record to check the IP address.

The trouble is, I’ve got a bank that’s seen this and just copied the IP addresses across.

They don’t seem to quite get the whole cloud thing, it seems.

But I’m amazed an SSH key isn’t enough security?!?

Good luck!

Hi Kyle

Were you ever able to resolve this issue?

We have the same issue with very little resolution on it.

Hi Carlos,

We switched to Netsuite’s Automated Bank Statement Imports(ABSI), using  daily sFTP file drops for prior-day activity from the bank, and had the bank whitelist an IP address range for the Oracle datacenter that’s hosting us (Chicago/Central). The bank doesn’t report activity for non-operating accounts so we still had to make a bank feeds connection for some accounts in addition to the automated bank statement import. This has served us pretty well but took some doing: finally activated everything a year after the original post.

The issue seems like it might be a combination of bank-side data problems and the bank feed not looking back far enough? Resetting the bank feeds connection pulls further back than the usual 7-day daily request and in those cases we’d successfully get the activity from perhaps 30-15 days ago with strange posting vs. transaction dates in the raw response, and no activity for the previous or current weeks.
