@sam have you considered the role of Advanced Intercompany Journal which allows currency by line?
the Bank > Transfer Fund is also multi-currency and might satisfy the need in some situations.

The costing method is a core decision on the item setup and cannot be changed after transactions are recorded.
I would be considering two different item codes one for each costing method.
Then have an IA to change the stock on hand

NS_CONCAT only works in a summary search.
you could create a custom field on your IF and populate that with the NS_CONCAT values and then display that field in your search.

My feeling is that your Netsuite model needs to reflect the real world. You would need some custom tables to represent what you have
SF Containers are a custom record which will have dimensions, references, end locations, your goods being added, customer goods being added. I’m thinking this is a manifest list onto which you are adding lines.
Customer goods also are custom records or a sub table of a SF Container so you can add these to the volume.
Some maths to calculate your total container volume minus your goods volume minus third party volume.
Look at what you have now and model it in Netsuite. I have seen SuiteApps which help with optimising containers but not sure if it directly applies here.

When I have seen this my RESTlet was running a Saved Search which was accessing records for which the REST role did not have access. Options:
Run your search “Unrestricted”
or
Give your REST role access to the records that it needs to return what you are requesting
